For a perfect finish, the pros encourage us to enlist a brush or sponge instead of fingers. “The most hygienic way to apply foundation is with a brush,” says Sydney-based makeup artist Sabrina Melei. “For a full coverage finish I recommend an oil-based foundation, and is best applied with a buffing brush as it allows more bounce action to dab the product into the skin. A water-based foundation is for a lighter, more seamless finish and can be best applied with a foundation brush. This allows a light application as the brush is flat and has less of a grab of product.”
