Aussie mum: ‘My song knocked Baby Shark off the charts!’

Her tune is a huge success, but Lyndsie still counts daughter Eden as her No. 1 fan

When Lyndsie Storer heard her debut children’s song had topped Baby Shark in the itunes chart, she couldn’t wait to tell her biggest fan – five-year-old daughter Eden.

It took just two days for

I Found Happiness Today to catapult to No. 1 after Lyndsie shared the upbeat tune to her Facebook page in June. “When I saw it was No. 2 I chuckled, I never thought No. 1 was something I was going to achieve,” Lyndsie tells Woman’s Day from her home in Buronga, in far south-west NSW.

“My aim was never to hit the charts, just sprinkle positivity, but knowing it’s done so much more is amazing. “It was such an exciting moment.” With 15 years of experience performing and creating music Lyndsie, 35, penned the song celebrating happiness and gratitude after experiencing lockdown with her family.

The children’s entertainer and mindfulness advocate wanted to create a song to remind kids – and herself – to look for the magic in every moment.

“It’s been such a tough time for so many people and I really wanted the focus to be on the positive things in every day,” says Lyndsie, who penned an accompanying children’s book, What Does It Mean To Be Grateful?, which also went to No. 1 on the Amazon charts.

“The song is a good reminder that we can find happiness through such simple things.”

And while songwriters can spend months labouring over lyrics and melody, she confesses writing this song was a breeze. “I don’t sit down and set out to write a song – a tune and words just pop into my head,’’ says Lyndsie, who wrote and finished her debut song in just 30 minutes.

“I was overwhelmed with gratitude and it just flowed. It was the same with the book

– I wrote it in the shower!”

Despite having fans around the world, Lyndsie is thrilled that her daughter gets a big kick from her work.

“It’s so lovely hearing her sing along with my music,” she says. “Eden often tells me how proud she is of me.

“If I just spread a little bit of positivity in people’s lives, then, that for me would be an amazing thing.”
