CHARLES’ SECRET FLING WITH BABS!
Barbra Streisand has revealed Prince Charles once tried to woo her after asking to meet her at a San Diego recording studio in 1974, three years before he started his romance with Princess Diana.
Speaking on UK TV, the star recalled a time after their initial meeting when the heir apparent sent her flowers when she was in London. “I said, ‘Who sent me that?’” the singer recalls of spotting a bunch of fresh blooms in her assistant’s hotel room, when Barbra was 32 and the prince was 26.
“And she said, ‘A fan called Charles.’ And I said, ‘Really? Let me see the note’ – and there was his seal. And they weren’t, like, from a florist because they were from his gardens and it’s a different look.
“[The assistant] just mistook it for a fan. It was so funny, I thought. That’s Prince Charles!”
Barbra says the famous pair went on to spend more time together.
“We became friends, and I loved spending some time at Highgrove for a weekend fundraiser and going through his gardens,” says the songstress of the now-72year-old royal.
Barbra, 79, says she even used their friendship in her performances. “I had a very funny line on stage when he came to see [my] show,” reveals the star. “I said, ‘You know, if I played my cards right, I could have wound up being the first Jewish princess!”
