The singer just wants to move on in peace with new man Ben
Four months after their split, Jennifer Lopez has lost all patience with her ex-fiance Alex Rodriguez and his “heartbreak act” – and has called in her legal team to intervene.
The baseball star, 46, was slammed recently for posing with a car he bought J.LO after gushing about their “incredible” relationship. This comes after the most desperate stunt of all in July, when he followed his ex and her new boyfriend, Ben Affleck, to the French Riviera on his own yacht to party with a group of models.
A-ROD WON’T LET GO
“It’s getting kind of creepy and it’s starting to anger Ben, who can be a bit jealous and insecure at the best of times,” says a pal. “After Monaco, she banned her kids from communicating with Alex’s girls, but it hasn’t made a blind bit of difference. Alex just won’t let go!”
Insiders say things came to a head after Alex told Entertainment Tonight, “I had five years of an incredible life and partnership and also with my daughters, we learned so much.” He continued on about how he and his girls were going to move on from that, but the comments riled up both Jen and Ben, 49.
“He’s not supposed to talk about their relationship to the press without clearing it with her first,” adds the insider. “That was the deal, but this will help negotiate her way out of all the business deals she had with him – something she said she wouldn’t do when they split.” After purging her social media accounts of all things A-rod, last week Jen, 52, instructed her team to pull out of their business dealings too, putting a string of joint ventures on ice, including a new fitness app.
An insider tells US Weekly, “Jennifer is done dealing with Alex. She’s washing her hands of him romantically and also as a business partner. Her management team and her lawyers will be talking to his [team] to tie up any loose ends.”
Sources in A-rod’s camp say he will “fight tooth and nail” to stop this from happening.
“It’s not looking good for those businesses – people invested on the back of J.lo’s name way more than Alex’s,” says another friend of the former couple. “He needed this from a financial perspective, but he’s not doing himself any favours pining away for her.
“His ego is pretty bruised right now.”
While Jen does have remorse over having to cut ties with A-rod’s daughters, she feels she has no choice – certainly not if she wants things to work with Ben the second time around.
“Things are going ng so well for them and they’ve fallen in love with three new mansions that are ready to move into,” says the insider of Jen and Ben, who was last week spotted checking out engagement rings at Tiffany in LA – almost 19 years after he first proposed to Jen.
The source adds, “They can’t wait to start their life together again and are determined to not make the same mistakes. But it’s not easy to start afresh when her ex-fiance keeps reminding everyone of just how quickly she and Ben are moving.”
