Woman’s Day (Australia)

GOGGLEBOX AUSTRALIA THE BOYS ARE BACK!

Favourites Adam Densten and Symon Lovett are back on the couch – and they’re ready to give us their opinions!

-

You’re both back! We’ve missed you! What made you return?

Adam, 31: We’ve been spending so much time on the couch in the last 18 months that we thought it was silly to let all that training go to waste.

Symon, 33: And we love the idea that we can call Gogglebox “work”, so I guess we now work from home, too! What have you been up to in your gap year?

Adam: I actually got married, so I am now officially an adult. And of course, I had Symon up the front standing next to me as a part of the bridal party!

Symon: I have decided to really embrace the midlife crisis that has been hiding inside me and so I went out and bought some lycra and a mountain bike. So now I’m an official MAMIL [middleaged man in lycra]. How has COVID-19 affected you both?

Adam: I have really taken to home cooking and think

I have nailed my signature dish – slow-cooked beef cheek stroganoff with whole mushrooms. Look, I completely stole the recipe from Masterchef winner Adam Liaw, but I’ll be 100 per cent taking the credit for it when I next have a dinner party.

Symon: My partner Gab is a singing teacher and has been teaching on Zoom from home, so I have been enjoying listening to her incredible singing every day. TV has changed dramatically since you last appeared on Gogglebox – The Bachelor isn’t the juggernaut it used to be and The Voice is back on top. Why do you think viewers’ habits are changing?

Adam: Everyone has taken up wild COVID hobbies like puzzles and sourdough bread-making so they watch things on demand more. I don’t think TV is dead yet – people still love time on the couch in front of the telly.

Symon: Let’s hope that TV isn’t dead yet, we’re only just coming back! So what have you been watching during your hiatus?

Adam: There’s probably not much I haven’t been watching, to be honest. I feel like I have almost “finished” TV and watched it all! In saying that, Mare Of Easttown on Binge had me bloody hook, line and sinker!

Symon: I have thrown it back to my high school days and been bingeing on the Gossip Girl remake. They all seemed to get very rich in the last 10 years! Did you stay in touch with the Gogglebox cast?

Adam: Jad is one of the quickest repliers to a text of anyone in my phone book, he’s the best. I can’t wait to see how he’s been going without his weekly haircut and skincare!

Symon: We’ve loved watching Malik grow up with Matty and Sarah, and we are always in touch with Isabelle Silbery, too – she’s like our big sister! Are you back for good now?

Adam: We are struggling to plan what’s going on next weekend, let alone what is happening after this season!

Symon: Hopefully everyone joins us for a super fun ride this new season. I mean, it’s the couch, and who doesn’t love watching people on the couch while they’re on the couch?! GOGGLEBOX AUSTRALIA premieres Wednesday, 7.30pm, Foxtel Lifestyle
