We have to admit we went into this show a little apprehensi­ve, but Jason Sudeikis’ Ted Lasso is just so damn likeable that it’s easy to forget the well-trodden plot and at-times cheesy dialogue. This is the ultimate feelgood show. We dare you not to fall in love!

GRACE AND FRANKIE

Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin play former enemies who are drawn together after their husbands reveal they’re in a relationsh­ip… with each other. It’s unexpected­ly brash but never forced, and buried beneath its witty script is a clear message to never give up hope.

HACKS

Hollywood great Jean Smart is at her career best playing comedian Deborah Vance – said to be loosely based on the late Joan Rivers – who hires Ava, a young comedy writer, in a bid to revitalise her flailing career and keep her Las Vegas residency. An understate­d gem!
