Elle & Uma: BONDING OVER THEIR EX!
The unlikely duo have become friends for the sake of their kids
Back in 2017 when Uma Thurman dragged Elle Macpherson into her custody battle against their mutual ex, Arpad “Arki” Busson, it seemed the women were destined to be enemies.
Sources say Elle was “not thrilled” when Uma, in her bid to prove Arpad was a “deadbeat dad” to their daughter Luna, insisted the multimillionaire used to “threaten” the Aussie supermodel during their own relationship.
KEEPING AMIABLE
“Arpad denied it and Elle stood by him – she was horrified that Uma would drag her into the whole sorry mess when she’s just focused on keeping things sweet with Arki for the sake of her sons,” our source says, referring to Flynn, 23, and Cy, 18.
“But in the past year or so, Elle’s found herself warming to Uma – they’ve actually become friends.”
While Kill Bill star Uma’s 2008 split with Arki, 58, was undeniably ugly – among her charges, she claimed he had an addiction to prostitutes – Elle has managed to cultivate a warm relationship with her ex, despite his rumoured nasty streak.
“Elle and Arki are in a great place. They have co-parented their sons amazingly well for years. They spend Christmases together and everything,” says an insider.
It seems Uma, 51, is looking to take inspiration from Elle, 57, about how to co-parent nine-yearold Luna amicably with Arki. “Uma has to admit she’s a little jealous of Elle’s easy manner with Arki and their sons,” says a source. “She reached out to Elle on the premise that it makes sense for Cy and Flynn to get to know Luna more, and in the process she and Elle have become quite good friends.”
The source says the unlikely pair lean on each other for parenting crises, with Uma even providing a shoulder for Elle to cry on when her youngest son Cy flew the coop from her Miami mansion to college in Massachusetts.
“Uma sent Cy a care package, and even though she was in Bermuda at the time, she

made sure she was in contact with Elle to see how she was feeling about her empty nest situation,” says the source.
“Elle was truly touched by it. She likes Uma and would love to have her and Luna join her modern family for special occasions, alongside Arki and her boys. But Elle is aware that there are still bad feelings between Arki and Uma, so there’s a way to go.
“Elle knows Arki can be very difficult to be around – he’s used to getting his own way and still very sore about how Uma attacked him at the custody battle.
“But Elle and Uma have been able to put that aside and have a relationship for the sake of their half-sibling kids. Uma’s attitude is that men come and go, it’s the babies who are the most important. Elle agrees but privately hopes she can move past her hatred for Arki, too.”
