“The content of my shows has always been tough and smart, and my style has always offended some audiences, but I couldn’t care less,” says Sandy, 67, better known as Austen Tayshus – the taciturn comedian famous for the classic hit Australiana.

“I work improvisationally, without a safety net and I am still greatly enamoured of this job… and glad I’m not a dentist!”

While COVID has meant the comedian has had to postpone many shows, the enforced break from touring has meant he’s had time work on new ideas. “I have just produced a new 100-minute documentary entitled Austen

Tayshus Skin In The Game, which is nearing completion,” he says. “It follows my career highs and lows.”
