The Block Faves Mitch and Mark didn’t hold back when they told Woman’s Day it’s time for a shake-up and a “new generation” when it comes to the judges on the renovating show. And now there’s speculation that a very familiar face could be joining the hit series next year for season 18!

Delta Goodrem heads to Melbourne’s Hampton this week to visit the Blockheads and help the contestants prepare for the lip-syncing challenge, as well as to see how they are going with their renovations. And this year’s teams say the singing superstar was a natural fit on set.

“It was great to have Delta on site, she is an incredibly talented performer. But if we are being honest, we were actually hoping she was coming to offer to help out – Jesse was hoping Delta could give him a hand with the insulation!” Kirsty, 34, jokes to Woman’s Day of her husband and the popstar.

Fellow competitor Tanya, 39, was just as impressed. “It was so beautiful to see Delta, she was lovely and charming to us. Vito was full-on fangirling – he started opening up and spilling out all of his emotions. I think Delta got to see a little bit about who we are, which was also so nice,” she tells Woman’s Day. Husband Vito, 45, agrees, “It was so great to have her on The Block.”

But could she be sticking around more permanently? With whispers that current judges Shaynna Blaze, 58, Darren Palmer, 43, and Neale Whitaker, 59, could have some changes in store for their panel – and Shaynna announcing last week she’ll be taking part in a new renovating show with her children called Country Home Rescue – Delta may be a savvy choice to join the line-up.

After her “nine-year journey” as a coach on The Voice, the singer has plenty of experience in the judging department, and says she’s keen to keep “pushing myself creatively and trying new things”.

And Delta has admitted she’d love a new TV gig!

REALITY TV FAN

“I’m always incredibly open to finding those awesome [roles], and the right stories to be a part of,” says the 36-year-old, who launched her own production company, Atled Productions, in December last year and announced an ongoing partnership with Nine.

Delta also happens to be a self-confessed reality TV fan. “I love it,” she says. “I sit and bingewatch on the couch with my friends just like everyone else!”

Meanwhile, a Nine insider tells Woman’s Day that Bec Judd, 38, is another possibility for a new-look judging panel on The Block.

The WAG and Jaggad designer appeared as a surprise guest judge on last year’s series and has been very vocal on social media about her desire to do more design work.

“Bec’s a terrific girl,” says host Scotty Cam, 58, who acknowledges The Block producers are always on a mission to “mix things up a bit” on the show to “keep it fresh”.
