There's drama behind the scenes for the Morning Wars co-stars
While the world cringed at Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston’s awkward interview with a British TV presenter last week, what went largely unnoticed was the missing spark and banter between the two leading ladies.
With multiple reports that the one-time friends are not as close as they used to be, sources confirm things are getting tense on the set of their TV show, Morning Wars.
“The very fact they weren’t in the same room but were in the same city for that interview speaks volumes,” says an insider.
“Jen clearly wasn’t impressed with how she was made to look in the interview, and Reese only made it worse by confirming the presenter was right about Jen not being a morning person.
“Jen was annoyed about that, but not surprised. Things haven’t been great between them since the start of the new season.”
A source told Star magazine in July that during filming “there was some friction” between Jen, 52, and Reese, 45, adding, “They
used to hang out when the cameras weren’t rolling, but not now. Between takes there was some eye-rolling going on.”

According to US reports, Reese’s nose was said to be out of joint after she was snubbed at the Emmys last year and Jen was nominated. “It changed the tone of their friendship. What was just a fun rivalry turned into something more serious,” adds the insider.
Things took another turn in July, when they were forced to file a lawsuit against the show’s insurance company, who were refusing to cover losses from the COVID shutdown.
“It was a nightmare and put the entire second season under threat,” says the insider. “Everyone was affected by that, but especially what was left of their friendship. Even in the first season, Jen and Reese would compete over silly things like who had the best handbag, but now it’s who won what award and a ridiculous blame game over their COVID problem. It’s like they’re looking for reasons to dislike each other.
“It wasn’t any falling out so much, just a case of being two totally different people. They have distinct working styles and over time the differences are less tolerable. Doing a TV show is new for Reese, who tends to be more of a perfectionist, so what was cute before is now annoying and laborious to Jen.”
The source adds of the pair, who are both executive producers on Morning Wars, “Reese also doesn’t like that Jen is unofficial boss lady. Everyone goes to Jen for advice because she has so much TV experience. Things aren’t as exciting or fun on the show as they used to be.”
