After years of heartache, she’s getting her happy ever after
Britney Spears says she’s “so blessed it’s insane” after announcing her engagement to boyfriend of nearly five years, Sam Asghari.
“Sam popped the question as soon as she was legally able to say yes, and boy was it a resounding yes,” says a source of the star, whose father, Jamie Spears, recently agreed to step down as conservator of her estate. “They could have waited for the ink to dry on the end of her father’s control over her, but they have both waited years for this moment and decided there wasn’t a second to waste.”
Especially as insiders say the broody star is just as keen to get cracking on starting a family! “Britney wants a baby with Sam so badly, but they’re both fairly traditional people and would like to be married first,” a source tells Woman’s Day.
Indeed, the insider says bride-to-be Brit, 39, and personal trainer Sam, 27, are planning to tie the knot as soon as they can, most likely in Hawaii with just a handful of people.
“She’s telling friends they’ve already begun trying for a child and jokes that it could very well end up being a shotgun wedding!” reveals the insider.
“Britney is so excited to finally be beginning the next stage of her life with Sam.”
Meanwhile, fans have urged the popstar to get a pre-nup to protect her assets. And while Sam joked about the issue on social media, declaring, “Of course we’re getting [an] ironclad pre-nup to protect my Jeep and shoe collection in case she dumps me one day”, the source says Britney and her team already have one “handled”.
“Sam is totally fine with her protecting her fortune,” says the source. “The last thing he wants is for her to feel like another man is coming for her money, like she thinks her father did.”
