Fears for Phil Collins

Fans worry afterf the musician admits his health is declining

-

Music icon Phil Collins shocked his fans last week when he confessed his ailing health has left him unable to pick up the drumsticks that made him a household name.

“I can barely hold a stick with this hand, so there are certain physical things that get in the way,” the 70-year-old star said in an emotional interview with BBC Breakfast in the UK on September 9. “I’m kind of physically challenged a bit, which is very frustrating because I’d love to be playing up there with my son.”

The rocker – who is gearing up for a Genesis reunion tour of the US, UK and Canada with his son Nic, 20, drumming in his place

– also left viewers concerned with his frail appearance. “Phil Collins looks and sounds really unwell,” commented one fan.

“Aww just seen Phil Collins on BBC Breakfast. He doesn’t look at all well,” added another.

The In The Air Tonight singer’s health has been on the decline since he suffered a spinal injury in 2007, before undergoing back surgery in 2015, which left him with nerve damage. He was then hospitalised in 2017 after suffering a serious fall that left him struggling to walk.

And given his ongoing health battles, Phil confesses Genesis’

The Last Domino? Tour – which kicks off later this month in Birmingham – will likely be his last.

“We’re all men of our age and I think to some extent it probably is putting it to bed,” says Phil, who was forced to perform sitting down during much of his last tour in 2019. “I think, just generally for me, I don’t know if I want to go out on the road any more.”
