TRAGEDY SENDS KIRSTY HOME
NSW contestant Kirsty is dealt a massive blow this week after hearing about the sudden passing of her 77-yearold grandmother.
Talking to Woman’s Day, Kirsty, 34, reveals the moment she was notified by her mum.
“When I saw my mum’s name flash up on my phone, I just knew w what she was going to tell me,” says Kirsty.
“I’ve never been more devastated in my life. My nan was my world.
“My mum was only 16 when she fell pregnant with me, so my nan played a big role in helping to raise me.”
Kirsty and husband Jesse, 33, were allowed to travel back home to Wangi Wangi to be with her family for 24 hours so they could say their final goodbyes.
While the distraught couple were away, fellow Blockheads Mitch and Mark and Ronnie and Georgia banded together to help Kirsty and Jesse finish their rooms.
“We couldn’t have done it without them,” says Kirsty. “Our favourite thing about being on the show is the friendships we made. It was so lovely to see even though it was a competition, they put that aside to help us get across the line.”
