Gene Wilder went on to star in such films as Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenste­in, and received an Emmy for his guest role on Will & Grace. The comedy giant died in 2016 at the age of 83 from Alzheimer’s disease.

Once filming was done, Peter Ostrum gave up acting and became a vet. The 63-year-old works at New York’s Countrysid­e Veterinary Clinic, where he tends to horses and cows.

Julie Dawn Cole went on to have a successful TV career in British shows like Poldark and Casualty. In 2016, she wrote about her time on the film in the book I Want It Now! A Memoir Of Life On The Set Of Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory. Julie, 63, later switched careers and became a psychother­apist.

While shooting the film, Munich-born Michael Bollner would change costumes at his house, which was nearby, and walk to the studio. The 63-year-old is now working as a tax lawyer in Munich, Germany.
