Life after diagnosis

Catch it early and don’t let it control your life

-

For Christine Snell, it was a repeat injury that led to her osteoporosis diagnosis 10 years ago. “I broke my little finger and they splinted it, but it just kept breaking again,” she says. “So my GP sent me for a bone density scan, which showed I had early osteoporosis.”

Since her diagnosis, Christine’s been receiving treatment and has made a few lifestyle changes, which include regularly taking calcium and vitamin D. Five years ago, she had another bone density scan that showed osteoporosis had slowed right down.

“If you can catch it early enough it can be controlled and you do not have to let it control your life,” she says.
