CHER: YOU GOT SUED, BABE!
Twenty-three years after Sonny Bono’s death, Cher is suing her former husband’s widow, Mary Bono, and seeking $1.35 million in damages. The 75-year-old entertainment legend claims Mary,
59, and Sonny’s estate are withholding her share of royalties to Sonny and Cher songs, including I Got You Babe and The Beat Goes On, and other assets from the famed duo’s six-year marriage, which ended in 1975.
Cher’s complaint, filed in LA on October 13, explains that she and Sonny agreed to an “equal division of their community property” when they divorced, meaning she would get 50 per cent of “royalties and other assets”.
