DAVE HUGHES ‘MEL B & I HAVE ACTUALLY BECOME CLOSE’

-

How do you feel about being the last judge standing on

The Masked Singer? I was feeling lonely until three brilliant women turned up to reinvigorate my life!

Do you feel the show needed a shake-up?

No, we were having a great time but our panellists all decided to go their own ways. I don’t think we needed a shake-up, but the shake-up we got has been fun!

Who have you bonded with the most out of the new judges?

Look, I knew Abbie [Chatfield, 27] and Chrissie [Swan, 48] well and I certainly strengthened my bond with those two but Mel B [47] has come in strong. No matter what she says to me on the panel on TV... behind the scenes we are really close (you must believe me!).

Do your kids try to get the names of the celebrities out of you before the show airs?

My kids absolutely try to get the names of the celebrities out of me and I say, “No, no, no!” I am forever saying yes to them so it’s a refreshing change to be able to say no.

Which celebrity would you be most excited to see under the mask?

I would love to see Roger Federer.

Anyone you’re hoping won’t be under there because it would be awkward?

There are a few I’ve had run-ins with, but I’m all for living in the moment, so if they are in it we’ll get through it.

Which do you prefer – radio or TV? Why?

I love both radio and TV but if I’m honest I love stand-up comedy more!

THE MASKED SINGER Sundays, Mondays & Tuesdays, 7.30pm, Ten
