Hollywood’s former It couple are at loggerheads over their children
The war between exes Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis has taken another turn in what is quickly becoming one of Hollywood’s most bitter custody battles.
Olivia, 38, recently filed court documents claiming the Ted Lasso star tried to “embarrass” and “threaten” her publicly by serving the custody papers while The OC actress was on stage in front of 4000 film industry members at Cinemacon in Las Vegas in April.
Now, a judge has ruled in Olivia’s favour after Jason applied to have their kids Otis, eight, and Daisy, five, live with him in New York. Olivia and her former fiance, 46, initially agreed that the kids would complete the upcoming school year in LA while Jason films Ted Lasso in London. However, the Horrible Bosses star changed tack and applied for the kids to move to Brooklyn to live with him next year, causing Olivia to fight back, asking for them to stay in Los Angeles and possibly relocate to London where her boyfriend Harry Styles, 28, lives.
The judge, in a legal filing signed August 5, ruled “New York was not the home state of the subject children” and that rather “California was the children’s home state”.
The custody battle will now have to be tried in California, so the “whole thing will start over”, legal experts allege.
Olivia and Jason were engaged for seven years before they called it quits in November 2020, with US magazines reporting the actress’ new relationship with British musician Harry shortly after in January 2021.
WHAT WENT WRONG?
“I’ll have a better understanding of why [it happened] in a year,” Jason told GQ in a July 2021 interview, breaking his silence on the end of his engagement. “And an even better one in two, and an even greater one in five, and it’ll go from being, you know, a book of my life to becoming a chapter to a paragraph to a line to a word to a doodle.”
Olivia and Harry are said to have fallen for each other on set of her flick Don’t Worry Darling.
