MYF’S MUSICAL MEMORIES!

Spicks And Specks star Myf Warhurst, 49, reveals behind-the-scenes secrets about the final season of the hit music quiz show

-

On how much preparation she does for each episode…

I brush up on our guest but there’s really not much more I can do before the show because it’s a quiz show. But that really makes this a dream job as it has minimal prep. However, this does also mean I have to rely on my existing knowledge, which as I get older, is a little harder to access than it used to be.

On her favourite music topics…

I love anything Dolly Parton or Kenny Rogers. I seem to know most of the songs in their back catalogues since my childhood obsession with those two singing Islands In The Stream.

On her least favourite…

I am embarrassed to admit it, but I am hopeless with musicals. Unless it’s West Side Story, I am pretty useless.

On her most embarrassing moment on the show…

Not guessing the title of the biggest song of the ’90s, Smells Like Teen Spirit, was pretty embarrassing for someone who lived through the ’90s.

On her funniest celebrity meeting…

I do remember one of the blokes from Status Quo inviting me and Meshel Laurie to come and “sit on his boat” when we were next in the UK. We were thinking we were being invited onto a party yacht but when we looked up the UK slang, we found out this was a very different thing. Oh, how we laughed.

On her favourite guest...

Murray [Cook] Wiggle has the most surprising knowledge, especially about Australian music. He’s a legend.
