SCOTTY MAKES WAY FOR JAMIE’S BIG RETURN!

The original Block host is eyeing off a big comeback to the reality series

He helped make it into the TV juggernaut it is today, and it looks like original host Jamie Durie could soon be heading back to where it all started – The Block!

The 52-year-old has been enjoying a TV comeback recently, popping up on The Masked Singer, Dancing With The Stars,

and new gardening show Growing Home

is slated for our screens later this year, too.

As next year marks 20 years since The Block first launched on Australian TV, an industry insider close to the show’s original host believes Jamie could just be eyeing off a major reality return – but only “for the right role”.

“Some of his fondest memories are of his time on [Seven’s] The Block,” the well-placed source tells Woman’s Day.

“If the right role was to come his way, he’d be back there in a heartbeat.”

The horticulturist and world-famous landscape designer moved back to Australia permanently in 2019 after forging a hugely successful career in the US, which included several reality series and a stint on The Oprah Winfrey Show.

While he’s back home to be closer to his fiancee Ameka Jane and their baby daughter Beau, in no way is he ready to slow down his career.

Our insider reveals Jamie was “bitterly disappointed” when Seven’s reno offering House Rules was chopped in 2020, and he’s still very much hoping to do more TV work.

Thankfully, sources reveal House Rules’ cancellation has “only motivated him more” and fans should expect to see the popular presenter popping up on screen in the coming months.

It comes after current host Scott Cam – who alongside Shelley Craft took over for the reboot in 2010, which catapulted it into one of Australia’s biggest reality shows – admitted how taxing filming has become on his body, particularly after injuring his neck in 2020 and has hinted to industry insiders he’s thought about retirement.

“I thought is that my working life over?” he told the media. “It was a real mental strain thinking I may not be able to work again. It was really upsetting. [But] I’ve got at least another decade on the tools. I’ll give up when my body tells me to.”
