Rita Wilson was snapped breaking down and wiping away tears as she dined with husband Tom Hanks and their troubled son Chet in Malibu.
The tense moment with Chet, 32, who has a famously rocky relationship with his parents, came after a troubling few days for the Hollywood heavyweight couple.
Pinocchio star Tom, 66, was caught looking bewildered and frail as he stepped out with Rita, 65, at the Malibu Chili Cook-off, where they were once again besieged by fans, mirroring the infamous June clash with an overzealous autograph hunter.
“It brought back how vulnerable they are each time they go out in public,” says a source. “They’re seriously having to consider a whole new approach to public outings, even hiring more security. Neither of them are willing to take any more chances.”
