Still want to GET AWAY?

Research shows that we’re itching to head off on holidays once again

-

As we slowly emerge from the pandemic, it’s no secret people are desperate to get out and travel again after spending the last two years locked away in their homes.

Research from booking.com has confirmed this. With a survey of 24,000 Aussie and global travellers saying we want to up and at ’em more than ever, here’s why we want to go and just how we’re planning to do it.

For example, the research shows that across the board we’re desperate to explore again and willing to pay for it, too. At least 72 per cent of us would say yes to any vacation opportunity if we could afford it, while for 42 per cent – the ones who have saved their pennies with no big trips since the pandemic started – money is no object this year.

“Aussies have been making the most of domestic travel with restrictions eased,” says

Melissa Ellison, booking.com area manager for Australia. “This has made us all hungry for more travel – especially when it comes to dusting off our passports for international adventures. Now, as we look towards [this] next year and [as] travel restrictions continue to ease, we’re seeing a lot of excitement and anticipation for people to return to travel. Aussies are particularly keen to reunite with family and friends overseas, as well as the change of pace and scenery that travel beyond our borders provides.”

If this year’s chaotic scenes at airports around the world are anything to go by, we’ve already embraced the idea of a good trip. More than half of us are more open to different types of holiday than before the pandemic, 65 per cent don’t mind where we go as long as it’s the type of trip we want and 76 per cent of travellers say holiday time will be strictly work-free!
