BUGGY BITES
MAKES 4 WIGGLY BITES EACH PREP + COOK UNDER 30 MINS
1 DRAGONFLIES
Cut 2 stalks celery into 8cm lengths; spread with ½ cup nut-free peanut butter spread. Cut 2 baby carrots lengthways into thin slices and position on nut-free spread for the body. Cut 1 small cucumber into slices and trim a little; position on dragonflies for the wings. Secure 2 candy eyeballs to each dragonfly with a little nut-free spread for the eyes. Cut 2 chives to the correct length and position on dragonflies for the antennae.
2 BUTTERFLIES
Cut 1 stalk celery into 4cm lengths; spread with 1/3 cup spreadable cream cheese; top with 1/3 cup nut-free peanut butter. Cut 1 small cucumber into slices and trim a little; position on nut-free spread for the wings. Secure 2 candy eyeballs to each butterfly for the eyes. Cut 2 chives to the correct length and position on butterflies for the antennae.
3 SNAILS
Cut 2 stalks celery into 6cm lengths; spread with 2/3 cup nut-free peanut butter spread. Cut 1 baby cucumber (quke) into slices. Position a cucumber slice upright on nut-free spread for the shell. Secure 2 candy eyeballs to each of 4 cherry tomatoes with nut-free spread; position on snails for the head. Cut 2 chives to the correct length and position on snails for the antennae.
4 SNAKES
Cut 2 stalks celery into 14cm lengths; spread with ½ cup spreadable cream cheese. Cut 12 strawberries into thin slices; position, overlapping, on cream cheese for the body. Secure 2 candy eyeballs to each snake with a little cream cheese for the eyes. For a variation, use baby cucumbers with a wedge cut out lengthways instead of celery and 1.5cm capsicum strips instead of strawberry slices. Trim capsicum pieces for the tongues.
5 LADY BUGS
Quarter 2 strawberries lengthways. Top 4 mini cheese rounds (encased in red wax) with 2 strawberry quarters each for the wings, securing with a little cream cheese. Secure 2 candy eyeballs to each of 4 small raspberries with a little more cream cheese for the eyes; position eyes on lady bugs, securing with cream cheese.
6 CATERPILLARS
Cut 2 stalks celery into 14cm lengths; spread with 2/3 cup nut-free peanut butter spread. Cut 6 baby cucumbers (qukes) into slices; position, overlapping, on nut-free spread for the body. Secure a candy eyeball to each caterpillar with a little nut-free spread for the eye. For a variation, use spreadable cream cheese instead of nut-free peanut butter spread and raspberries instead of cucumber slices. Secure 2 candy eyeballs to each caterpillar with cream cheese for the eyes.
7 WASPS
Halve 2 baby cucumbers (qukes) crossways; cut out a wedge lengthways from each half. Spread ²⁄³ cup spreadable cream cheese into cavities. Cut 1 small cucumber into slices and trim a little; position on wasps for the wings. Cut 4 cherry tomatoes in half; position two halves on each wasp for the body. Secure 2 candy eyeballs to each wasp with a little cream cheese for the eyes. Cut 2 chives to the correct length and position on wasps for the antennae.
