Warne family HITS BACK!

A telemovie has been labelled ‘disrespectful’ by the cricket legend’s daughter

-

Aday after Nine sensationally announced its plans to honour late cricket legend Shane Warne in a multiproject deal next year, his family have hit out at the network, calling them “beyond disrespectful”.

Promoted as the “drama event of 2023,” Nine announced the two-part show Warnie, a day after what would have been the Spin King’s 53rd birthday.

“Do any of you have any respect for Dad? Or his family? Who did so much for Channel 9, and now you want to dramatise his life and our [family’s] life 6 months after he has passed away? You are beyond disrespectful,” Brooke, 25, wrote on social media. Her siblings Jackson, 23, and Summer, 20, also slammed the network in similar posts, with Summer calling Nine a “disgrace”.

“I would really like to know what goes through people’s heads to think this is okay,” she wrote, adding, “Can you just let my dad rest in peace, since [he’s] not here to defend himself?”

TOO SOON?

Warnie’s longtime personal assistant Helen Nolan has similarly expressed her dislike at the TV special and sensationally claimed that producers had begun working on the show “three days after he passed away”, and that “no one from the family or his team has ever been approached about anything”. “It’s so disgraceful,” she added.

So far, Nine has kept the production and casting details under wraps, however it assured fans that the biopic will celebrate the life of “a man who lived life large and loved passionately”. It’s expected to air in the first half of 2023.
