Fit shoes to your larger foot “Did you know that around 60 per cent of people have two different sized feet?” Kyle asks. “It is important to always measure both feet and use the larger measurement as your guide.”

Get the right width

Not all materials will stretch, so if your shoes are too narrow it’s important not to assume they’ll get comfier with time. “A lot of styles and brands of shoes will make different widths as well as length,” says Kyle.

Consider your lifestyle

“Not all shoes are made equally – a running shoe will have different features to a walking shoe,” he says.

Don’t just go by size If you’re normally a nine, it’s still important to try before buying. “Not only do feet continue to grow a little over a lifetime, most brands will have slightly different lengths for the equivalent size in a different brand,” says Kyle. “Some shoe companies will change the shoe shape between different models of the same shoe.”

Take a walk “If you buy in store, make sure you have a decent walk to make sure you’re comfortable,” Kyle recommends.
