GOD SAVE THE KING
Despite losing his mother just days before, King Charles III swore to serve the people of the Commonwealth in his first declaration after formally being proclaimed sovereign. At the Accession Council, a formal ceremony in front more than 200 politicians and dignitaries, he also promised to protect the Church of Scotland while maintaining he would uphold his mother’s dedication to duty. “In taking up these responsibilities, I shall strive to follow the inspiring example I have been set,” he declared.
