From the moment the Princess of Wales began dating William 20 years ago, she made sure to cultivate a watertight inner circle of friends – ones she can trust implicitly.

Understand­ably, sources say Kate has to be careful about who she lets in.

“She also doesn’t have a lot of spare time for her social life, which most of her friends accept. But once she trusts someone, they’re a friend for life,” explains an insider.

By all accounts, Meghan Markle found this out the hard way when she was left miffed by the fact she wasn’t immediatel­y welcomed as Kate’s new best friend.

But if the Duchess of Sussex, 41, thought that was frosty, it’s nothing compared to the complete ice-out Meghan received from Kate, 40, when they were reunited at the Queen’s funeral.

“When Meghan talked to Oprah about their supposed feud, she broke Kate’s cardinal rule,” says a source, who says the princess will never trust Meghan again, nor will she forgive her for talking about a private situation on US prime time.

And unlike Meghan, who’s an actress, the mother-ofthree is said to be unable to “hide her feelings.”

Indeed, cameras have followed the two women’s every public move since the Queen died, and not a word passed between them.

“It was obvious Kate couldn’t even bring herself to look at Meghan,” says a source, pointing out the sisters-in-law never travelled in a car together alone and were placed far apart at the church services.
