MAKE A DIFFERENCE

-

Teachers by day, food heroes by night, Erin and Rob Denham are doing it all. The married couple from the NSW coastal town of Port Macquarie serve warm meals to those in need via their mobile food van.

“It’s a passion of ours that we work on after hours,” says Erin, 40.

“We recognised the growing problem of homelessness in our area [and] researched areas that needed some TLC.”

Launched in 2016, Make A Difference now has 60 volunteers helping provide free, nutritious meals six times a week. While running a charity isn’t easy, as Erin admits, theirs is going from strength to strength, despite experiencing sharp increases in demand.

“It is extremely rewarding knowing that we are achieving what we set out to do,” she says.
