Renee Zellweger’s friends are deeply concerned about her romance with Ant Anstead, whose bitter divorce has taken a turn for the worse.
A worried confidante tells Woman’s Day, “Ant’s ex-wife [Christina Hall] is proving to be a real thorn in their side and she’s essentially going to be part of their lives until September 2040 when their son turns 21.”
Ant, 43, is in an ugly custody battle with his ex after he accused Christine of “exploiting” son Hudson, three, on social media.
“It’s had an impact on Renee’s confidence in her role as a stepmother,” adds the insider, adding that as nice as Ant is, the 53-yearold actress “doesn’t need the extremely stressful baggage”.
“She’s paralysed with fear that she’ll say or do something that could make things worse. She doesn’t need that in her life.”
Robert Irwin has tearily laid bare the sacrifices his mother Terri made following the shock death of his father Steve in 2006.
In a rare and lengthy interview on ABC’S One Plus One, Robert, 18, struggled to hold back the tears as he called his mother a “wonder woman” who helped his family get back on their feet after their devastating loss.
“She could have sold the zoo and just raised us. And we could have just squirrelled away and lived a little hidden life,” he said, adding that Terri, 58, wanted to carry on Steve’s legacy – and that giving up the zoo would have been the “wrong thing to do”.
Robert also admitted that while it was his dad who had the “larger-thanlife character”, it was his mum who “kept it going” behind the scenes. “It’s pretty special,” he added.
