Michael J Fox LIVING LIFE TO THE FULLEST

Despite serious health setbacks, the fan favourite isn’t stopping anytime soon

He once described life as being full of “regret and pain”, but these days Hollywood superstar Michael J Fox is certainly not giving up hope! The Back To The Future actor was recently seen out enjoying himself at a Las Vegas championship boxing match, where the fearless 61-year-old was taken into the arena in a wheelchair for the first time in his near-two-decade battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Despite battling mobility issues, Michael remained in high spirits as he was escorted to the sporting event with a smile, and even greeted waiting fans on the way.

Insiders explain that Michael is privately struggling behind the scenes with his condition, which will likely never get easier. “Unfortunately, there is no realistic hope for improvement at this stage. Parkinson’s disease not only affects mobility, it can also impact thought, through what is called Lewy body dementia,” says New York internist

Dr Stuart Fischer.

Michael was first diagnosed with the illness in 1991 at just 29, before revealing his condition seven years later. Since then, the disease has worsened as tremors have taken over his body – making walking an issue for the actor.

Choosing to remain positive, Michael has spoken openly about how appreciative he is of the support of his wife Tracy Pollan, 62, who he “laughs every day” with, and maintains that optimism is the key to forging through his condition.

“It doesn’t mean you have to accept it as a punishment or a penance, but just put it in its proper place. Then see how much of the rest of your life you have to thrive in,” says the actor, whose reps have confirmed that the Emmy winner has returned to acting in the past few months and is living a very “fulfilled” life.
