BOLD & BEAUTIFUL
Take the plunge and embrace colour in your makeup looks
If you’re onto a good thing with your makeup, it can be hard to change it up, particularly when bright and bold colours are involved. Thankfully, celebrity makeup artist and all-round beauty guru Lisa Eldridge has shared her top tips for introducing colourful makeup – minus the intimidation.
CHAMPION ONE AREA
When it comes to colour, stick to choosing just one feature to focus on. “When you have strong colours on both eyes and lips, it’s harder to make the makeup look good because it just swallows you up,” Lisa told British Vogue. Try taking her advice and decide if you’d prefer a smoky eye or bold lip.

PLAY WITH TEXTURES
Have a bit of fun and try out different colours and textures. “If I’m using colour, I play with texture. For example, when I do a bright, solid lip, I like to do more of a wash of bronze or pewter on [the] eyes,” explained Lisa. By doing this, she allows the different textures to complement each other.

AVOID PERFECTION
Often, we don’t trust our skills enough to execute something new, which is why we tend to gravitate toward neutral shades. However, Lisa assures us that when introducing a pop of colour, a lack of perfection will actually work in your favour. “The way to make colour modern now is to avoid it being too perfect,” she noted. Once you’ve mastered your new makeup look, try a setting spray to help it last all day long. Maybelline New York Face Studio Master Fix Setting Spray $15.95 Nude by Nature Natural Setting Spray $19.95
