Woman’s Day (Australia)

Look What's inside..

- Laura Evans, Editor

Growing up, I remember being obsessed with daytime detective shows. I can distinctly remember wrangling “sick” days off school and creeping downstairs to lie on the sofa to watch reruns of classics like Diagnosis Murder, Midsomer Murders and, of course, my ultimate fave, Murder, She Wrote. Angela Lansbury was the ultimate crime-fighting goodie as Jessica Fletcher, the novelist-detective who used her plotting skills to solve reallife cases. I didn’t recognise it then, but now it’s not lost on me how important it was to see a lady in her 60s taking the lead role in a prime-time show. Read our farewell to Angela Lansbury – on page 28 – a true icon of Hollywood’s

Golden Age.
