Julia’s husband... MISSING!

But thankfully her co-star George is never too far away

-

Given how many times Julia Roberts has third-wheeled with George Clooney and his wife Amal to gala events in recent months, you’d be forgiven for forgetting she has a partner of her own!

Despite Julia, who turns 55 this week, hitting several red carpets recently to promote Ticket To Paradise, the film she shot in Queensland alongside George earlier this year, there’s been no sign of her husband of 20 years, Danny Moder, 53. “People are starting to talk,” says one onlooker, who saw the unlikely trio on the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures red carpet on October 15.

DIFFICULT TIME

Insiders note that the film has been marked as Julia’s big return to the rom-com genre and Danny being missing at such a critical time in her career, “leaving her to awkwardly pose with George and Amal for the cameras, is very strange”.

Indeed, sources confirm it’s been a “difficult time” for Danny, Julia and their three children, Hazel and Phinnaeus, 17, and Henry, 15.

“They’ve been apart a lot this year,” says the source.

“First there was Julia’s work in Australia, where Danny visited but wasn’t able to stay for long. And then right when

Julia’s publicity commitments were about to begin, tragedy struck their family.”

Danny announced in August that his beloved father Mike, who he described as a “towering man… forever athletic, supremely cool, and making friends wherever he went” had died aged 86.

“Danny is crushed – he was very close with his dad. The last thing he felt like doing was smiling for the cameras on Hollywood red carpets, which Julia understood,” says a source.

Last week, as Julia faced a nervous wait for the opening numbers for Ticket To Paradise, insiders say she was again without her cameraman husband, who is believed to be in New Jersey filming new movie Inappropriate Behavior with Robert De Niro, Bobby Cannavale and Aussie actress Rose Byrne.

“Danny wanted to deal with losing his dad by throwing himself back into work,” says a source.

This project is a big deal for him, so there was no way he’d miss it. Even if it did mean he’d mostly be living in New York while Julia jets around on the promotional trail.”

Insiders say Julia, Danny and their children “can’t wait to put this topsy turvy year behind them” and hope to be more united later in the year. “They’ve had some incredible adventures but also sadness, and it hasn’t helped that they’ve been apart for a lot of it,” says a source.

“The eldest two kids are off to college now as well, so Julia is counting down the minutes to the Christmas holidays so she can have her family back together again and she’s really hoping Danny feels the same.”
