Elizabeth Debicki UNDER FIRE

-

It was supposed to be her big global break, but sources say Aussie actress Elizabeth Debicki is feeling the strain as her upcoming seasons of The Crown keep dominating the headlines – for all the wrong reasons.

The Netflix show has copped a barrage of criticism, which will cover the 1997 death of Princess Diana, who is portrayed by 32-year-old Elizabeth.

A close friend of the late royal, Simone Simmons, has dubbed the streaming giant “sadistic and wicked” for deciding to recreate the Princess of Wales’ final moments before her death in a Paris car crash.

“These are cruel, sadistic and wicked people to recreate these moments. They are the lowest of the low,” she says of the scenes, which reportedly show Diana and boyfriend Dodi Al Fayed entering a limo just before the fatal accident. “They are rewriting history as they go along and that’s what makes me very angry.”

Simone isn’t the only one up in arms. Netflix has been forced to bow to pressure and add a disclaimer to its trailer informing viewers that the show is fictional after Dame Judi Dench wrote an open letter urging show bosses to make the move and accusing The Crown of being “cruelly unjust” and “damaging” for its treatment of the royal family.
