‘This year’s auction could be a disaster!’
Kirsty isn’t one to mince words, and she’s predicting that some, if not all, of this year’s contestants may walk away with nothing from the sale of their country homes in the Macedon Ranges in Victoria.
“I hope I’m wrong but I have a really bad feeling about this year’s auction,” she warns. “Interest rates have shot up and the market has cooled, plus everyone is saying these homes will sell for $5 million, but some of the better homes recently sold in that area only made about $2 million. That’s a huge price difference.
“If you also look at the latest series of The Block in New Zealand, one of those contestants walked away with just $100 and two of the homes were passed in. There really is no guarantee that you will make money on The Block!
“I hope I eat my words, but I’m really worried for them all.”
