Amazing Grace

-

Living with quadriplegic cerebral palsy and epilepsy, teenager Grace Murphy has overcome countless challenges in her life. But with mum Kelly’s support, the 16-year-old is fast becoming an entrepreneur. She started her candle business, Simply Grace, a year ago and business is booming.

“We have sold thousands of candles all over Australia,” says Grace, from Tura Beach, NSW. “We use pure soy wax because it doesn’t have any bad stuff in it.”

Kelly, 37, couldn’t be more proud of her hardworking and creative daughter who has undergone extensive orthopaedic surgeries to straighten her limbs, reduce chronic pain and ensure she can walk.

“Hospital trips are standard for her, so running her own business is perfect,” says Kelly. “She’s very innovative and determined, she’ll not drop tools until the job’s done, no matter how long it takes. I’m lucky to work with her every day.”
