Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital just won’t be the same without Meredith Grey. Last week, Grey’s Anatomy actress Ellen Pompeo said her farewells on Instagram, where she shared a message praising the show’s loyal fanbase for support across a whopping 19 seasons.
Now insiders hint that the show’s production team is scrambling over the loss of the iconic star, who has been the face of the series for almost two decades.
Ellen’s message to fans comes just one week after the drama’s mid-season finale, which marked the actor’s last official episode as fan favourite Meredith, the intern-turned-head of general surgery.
“I am eternally grateful and humbled by the love and support you have all shown me, Meredith Grey and the show for 19 seasons!,” Ellen, 53, wrote.
The actress said the show would never have been possible without “the best fans in the world,” before hinting that she’s open to returning as a visitor in the future.
