Two of TV’S leading ladies are divorced and dateless – and have never been happier
Both inching closer to their 60s and recent divorcees, two of Australia’s biggest television stars are shunning society’s expectations by approaching their second act as strong, independent and successful women – with no need for a man!
LAUGHING IT OFF
Julia Morris, 54, and Shaynna Blaze,
59, are speaking out about being single in their 50s – and despite what you may think, they’ve never been happier or more in demand!
“I don’t want to brag, but oh, it’s everything you’re dreaming it’s going to be,” Julia told the media about her divorce from husband of 16 years, Dan Thomas, earlier this year.
“People are like, ‘You look amazing!’ and I’m like, ‘That’s because there’s absolutely nothing going on.’ I don’t even think I’ve had an argument in a year. It’s the best of times,” she laughs.
The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! host even admitted she was happy to give up sex! “Do you know what? I think I’ll shut up shop. I’m done with roots,” she
said, using her trademark sense of humour to tear down the stereotypical image of a heartbroken spinster.
But jokes aside, Julia said that her and Dan, who share daughters Ruby, 16, and Sophie, 14, split amicably and that they’re still “in a good place”.
“I just think with work and life and definitely raising children, we just got lazy in the end. We were just time up,” she said. “[And] thank god, ’cause I’m hearing horror stories about [divorce] but, my god, the freedom.”
And instead of wasting time mourning her marriage, Julia is making good use of her solo life. As well as new seasons of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and Taskmaster on the horizon, Julia will take her headlining stand-up tour 75 Years In The Business around the country next year.
RESET & REBUILD
As Julia enjoys her freedom, The Block judge Shaynna is looking to lay down new roots following her divorce from Steve Vaughn in August 2018. “In only a few minutes, my whole life was turned upside down,” she admitted tearfully in the first episode of her new show Country Home Rescue. “We sold our family home, my marriage broke down and all those things that give you security suddenly vanished.”

But despite adding that she felt “blindsided” by the split, Shaynna has since focused on her work, raising awareness for her domestic violence charity Voice of Change and rebuilding a new family home with her children Carly and Jess.
The siblings first bought the 130-year-old home in regional Victoria to use as an investment property, however have since renovated the home with their TV star mother – which is shown on their new series – and now plan to live there all together.
“I really need them to understand that this is important to us as a family,” says Shaynna.
