NICK & LLEYTON’S FEUD EXPLODES!
Nick Kyrgios is doing his best to reignite his bitter feud with Lleyton Hewitt by publicly blasting him on social media, and it’s sending the tennis legend’s wife Bec into a tailspin!
“Bec is sick of Nick laying into her husband and dragging his name through the mud, especially when he doesn’t deserve it,” tells a source, saying she is particularly worried about the impact it’s having on her kids, especially budding tennis star Cruz, 14, who is very aware of everything happening both on and off court and how his dad is being portrayed.
Tensions between Lleyton, 41, and Nick have been simmering since they fell out in 2019 when Lleyton was appointed captain of the Australian Davis Cup team, but the pair had seemingly mended bridges since.
Last week, it appeared there was still plenty of resentment when Nick, 27, took to Twitter to accuse Lleyton of throwing him “under the bus”, after the father-of-three revealed he was left in the dark about Nick’s decision to pull out of the United Cup just 24 hours before the tournament due to an injured ankle.
“I was in the same boat as all the other players [who didn’t know],” Lleyton revealed to the press, adding, “It was pretty tough for everyone. It was more probably the lack of communication and these guys not knowing… if it was just worrying Nick, that’s one thing. When it revolves around the team and other people and their preparation to be playing the best they possibly can leading into the Australian Open, that’s probably the hardest thing.”
Insiders say Bec is encouraging Lleyton to stay focused and keep the upper hand.
