ELIZABETH BOURGINE

WHY CATHERINE WILL NEVER DIE IN PARADISE!

-

Elizabeth Bourgine says it’s “a wonderful gift” to still be playing Catherine Bordey on crime comedy-drama Death In Paradise more than a decade later.

“I love being her and Catherine is a deep part of myself,” the 65-yearold French actress tells Woman’s Day, adding the bar owner and mayor of Saint Marie “has been ageing with wisdom, humour, confidence and benevolence.”

Elizabeth admits one of the best parts of the gig is her wonderful co-stars. “I get to work with an amazing team who are like a family,” she says. “We know each other so well and we all work to do our best. I’m very proud and grateful of what we’ve managed to achieve over these years.”

And Elizabeth claims season 12 is the best yet!

“Fans can expect more adventures, more mysteries, and even more emotions.”

The actress, who is yet to visit Australia but hopes to one day, says it’s “lovely to rediscover” the Guadeloupe Islands, where the series is filmed every year. “It’s beautiful and the more you visit the island, the more it surprises you,” says Elizabeth, who admits it isn’t always perfect shooting in paradise.

“The heat is the most challenging thing to manage. We used to say we glow to stay glamorous, but in fact we sweat so much,” she laughs. “And I can tell you that the mosquitoes like us too much!”

While mozzies may defeat her, she doesn’t believe murder ever will.

“My dear Catherine escaped death in season 10. She was attacked and survived, so

I don’t think she will die.

“Bruce Springsteen is right when he sings, “Only The Strong Survive”.

I agree with him. Catherine Bordey is strong enough to survive any time!”
