Ed’s note

Women's Health Australia - - CONTENTS -

Have you ever had weeks that are, in a few words, non-stop hectic? April was that for me. I worked across three different cities (Sydney, Melbourne and the

Gold Coast), travelled constantly, and trained (only just!) on top of that. But all month long, there was one constant. No matter where I turned, I was surrounded by strong, inspiring, kickbutt women. Case in point? Our amazing Aussie athletes who pushed the limits of what they thought was possible at the recent Commonwealth Games – the reason for my GC trip. From Cate and Bronte Campbell to para athlete Isis Holt, new swimming superstar Ariarne Titmus and our three distance runners Eloise Wellings, Madeline Hills and Celia Sullohern, who made headlines for all the right reasons when (despite missing out on medals) they demonstrated the true spirit of sport by waiting for the last runner in the women’s 10,000 metres to cross the line. If you ask me, when it comes to courage, grace and emotional resilience in the face of adversity, it doesn’t get any better.

Want to feel stronger in both body and mind? You’ll find everything you need in this issue. Nourish your body from the inside out with 17 pages of fast, filling meals, from fish and prebiotic chips with mayo (um, yes!) to 10 new ways to create a healthier taco (from p117). Build a better booty (and fire up your fitness) with our high-speed workout plan, no gym required (p90). Create richer relationships with our fascinating report on the new science of friendship (p72). And get ready to be seriously inspired by this month’s cover star, model, fitfluencer and all-round legend Bree Warren, whose self-belief, smarts and incredible work ethic have taken this surf-loving beach babe all the way from Noosa to New York to work for some of the world’s biggest brands (meet her on p78). Until next month, enjoy the issue!

The inspo metre was high when these incredible athletes came together at the Longines Women in Sport lunch in Queensland.

We’re still on a high after launching the first WH Secret Sweats with Nike master trainer Kirsty Godso. Stay tuned for more!
