The conscious cocktail
Non-alcoholic drinks are having a moment, as more of us swerve the sauce (we’re drinking the least booze we have in more than 50 years, according to ABS figures). Forget sugary-sweet mocktails (it’s not the ’90s, people), now brands such as Seedlip – the world’s first distilled non-alcoholic gin – are being stocked in your favourite bars. Australia’s version, Brunswick Aces, is a recent launch but it has already made its mark among non-drinkers.
THE NEXT STEP: Major alcohol brands plan to intro nutritional labels on their drinks, so we can make healthier choices. Diageo (Bundaberg Rum, Smirnoff,
Baileys, Johnnie Walker) is already leading the charge.
