A Mighty Achievement
Yarrawonga Windsurfing Club member, 6 year old Paxton Poll, completed a solo crossing of Lake Mulwala recently.
He sailed from the Yarrawonga Yacht Club to the Mulwala Ski Club and can claim to be the youngest to do so.
A mighty achievement for one so young.
The pennant season is done and dusted, and club championship events are almost finished.
The nominated mixed pairs have been completed with some great matches played; the winners were Peter Humphreys and Nola Mongor, with runners up Doug Chessum and Bev Norwood.
The B Singles championship early rounds have been completed, unfortunately the Semifinals were postponed after a few ends due to rain, they will be completed beginning 9.30 on Good Friday.
Twilight bowls were played on March 14 with a good turnout of players, including 5 visitors, winners were Nola Mongor and Barbara Patterson, runners up were Jan Corboy and Graeme Albert.
Our Krackerjack tournament will be played on Easter Saturday and Sunday start time 9.30, names in by 10.00am Good Friday.
Two very good days of competition with $500.00 of prize money available, come along and join in, single entries most welcome.

It was with sadness we learnt of the passing of Pat who is the wife of member Paul Talbot, our condolences go out to Paul and his family.
YMGCR Bowls Our monthly 2 bowls triples were played on a beautiful autumn Wednesday, with 24 teams doing combat on our fantastic greens.
We had four 4 game winners, the team from Barooga of Ray Emerson, Stuart Ralph and the old champ Gerald Rothe had 55 shots up.
The Wangaratta team of Greg McDonald, Leon Quartaman and Willie Hall were runners up with 50 shots up.
Best 1st game winners were Bob Adams rink with a score of 21 shots up, 2nd game winners were Vic Brincat with 14 shots, 3rd game winners were Eugene Hobson with 17 shots up and 4th game was share between Bob Fiddes and Mick Reilly with 12 shots.

Thursday had 12 ladies take to our greens, the winners were Lil Borwick and Sue Evans, runners up were Marie Whitehead and Barb Verbunt and the jackpot failed to go off.
Friday Bowls were cancelled due to the lack of numbers, let’s hope we start getting numbers back now that pennant has finished, we all need to support our club, so put your name down.
On Saturday we had 14 teams play the first two rounds of the mixed pairs, the semi-finals will be played during the week and the Final will be played on Thursday 29 at 10.00.
The semi-finals will be contested by Garry and Claire Sanders against Laureen Smith and Greg Green, in the other final the giant killers of Mal Beer and Robyn Moore who beat one of the favourite combinations of Anne Miles and Peter Velardo, will play two experience campaigners in Peter Bellis and Barb Verbunt.
Well done to everybody who played and good luck to the remaining teams.
Last week Anne Miles represented Victoria against the strong NSW team at Whittlesea, unfortunately the Vic’s come up short but Anne was voted best female bowler for Victoria.
With that performance she has now been selected for Victoria in the Australian Sides Champions which will be played in Darwin in May.
A bit of housekeeping, Belmont BC will once again be visiting us for their annual game, so if you want a game and lunch please put your name on the list on the notice board, the game will be on April 17 and start at 10 am.
This year we are trying something different by having our Presentation on Saturday, April 28 we will have a game of bowls followed by afternoon tea, if you have won a championship could you please make an effort to attend.
There will be a list for the catering.
ClubMulwala Indoor Bowls
The final of the Club 4’s was played on Monday, March 19 at 1.30 pm.
It was a close finish with Ian Holmes (s), Annie King, Lyn Harmer and Dot shanks winning over Val Bryce (s), Ellen Buckley, Pat Crothers and Betty Blick. Congratulations to them all.
The next Club Event is to be Open Pairs which will begin after Easter.
This is where you enter yourself and your chosen partner.
It is a knockout event and may be played as 2 x 4 x 2.
Started on Monday, March 26 at 7pm with bowling on Thursday, March 29 at 1.30 pm so we are back to normal.
Yarrawonga Bowls Club We have had a great week at the club, we have been able to play all scheduled games and have welcome a couple of visitors who have come along to join us on the greens.
On Monday, March 19 we played Nominated Pairs 2-4-2 with 26 teams on the greens, nearly a full house. The winners of the day were Teddy Edwards and Diane Luke.
The runners up were Ron Makin and Max Calder, the jackpot for the day was not claimed.
Wednesday, March 21 saw us playing jackpot triples with 26 players coming along for the game and the winners of the day were John Flannigan, Faye Cook, Liz Murdoch and Tommy Dodds, the runners up were Rita Kapp, David Smith and Max Tuttleby. The Jackpot was not claimed on the day so has been carried over until next Wednesday.
On Thursday Night we played Barefoot Bowls with 26 players coming along to enjoy this informal format of the game and the winners of the night were Steve Hutchinson and Joe Kapp, the runners up were John Chamberlain and Hayden Murphy.
On Saturday, March 24 we played Jackpot Triples with the sponsors of the day being Kim and Jack Jarden, what a great turn out for day and the presentation of the club trophy’s afterwards.
We had 48 players on the greens playing 2 Bowl Triples and 60 odd members coming along to watch the presentation after a meal.

Thanks, should also be given to all the club players who participated in the club championship games which have been held throughout the season.
Special thanks go to the ladies who organised the catering for this event and to the match committee who worked tirelessly to see that it went off without a hitch. This day also saw the official closing of the 2017-2018 season, although we will still be bowling right throughout the year and still have several important dates in this season to complete.
