Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort held their first ever Family Food Fair over the Easter weekend with the event proving a resounding success.

The Family Food Fair was a mastermind of the club’s own chefs who cooked up an array of affordable food options and were able to show some flair and flavour through the menus offered on each of the food stands.

The selection they provided saw many visitors return to eat for a further two and three nights with streams of locals and holiday makers rolling into the event as well as visitors from around the district.

Paella was a hit on both Friday and Saturday with the dish selling out on both days.

Pizzas were also an affordable fresh and popular choice with over 900 sold over three nights.

Dulan’s kitchen pumped out plenty with burgers, salads and tasting plates but his fish taco was described as ‘divine’.

Nadine’s Texan BBQ 12-hour slow cooked brisket ended the weekend as the people’s choice.

As the sun went down the croquet lawns under festoon lighting provided a festival mood with the kids well entertained in the kids zone and mums and dads able to sit back, relax and enjoy the live entertainment.

“It was great to see so many families come and enjoy what was on offer,” said YMGCR President Gil Cunningham.

“Our chefs cooked up a storm and everyone I talked to raved about their whole experience; food, entertainment and fun.”

A Hole in One competition was also run as part of the event with a 100m temporary hole set up.

“This gave us the opportunity for local community groups, Mulwala Public School, Yarrawonga P-12 and Yarrawonga Health’s Helping Hands who collectively raised almost $2000 for their causes with golfers and ‘not so’ golfers having a go,” Gil added.

“We look forward to everyone and more coming next year.”

Plenty of children enjoyed the activities including the face painting.

The balloon man was very popular with the children.
