Paige takes home silver at nationals
Local junior athletics star Paige Duffy performed well at the Athletics Australia National Junior and Para Championships in Sydney recently.
Paige competed in three events, taking out silver in the Under 14s high jump with a personal best effort of 1.55m, fifth in the under 14s triple jump with a jump of 10.33m and twelfth in the under 14s 80m hurdles.
Paige’s Little Athletics coach in Albury Greg Simpson said it was amazing that Paige was reaching the heights she is so far.
“To go to nationals in three events is a great achievement but to do it with a year left in under 14s is exceptional,” Greg said.
Paige’s Father Chris also said he couldn’t be prouder of how Paige was progressing.
“We’re travelling around a lot for her to train and compete so to see her going so well is fantastic,” Chris said.
“I am so proud of her with the amount of work and effort she is putting in and getting the results she is, it’s just the cherry on the cake.
“We would also like to thank the Yarrawonga Godfathers for donating some money to support her costs towards competing at the Australian National Championships.”
