37 seconds’ winners!
It took just 37 seconds for a foursome which included two trainee professionals from Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort to play the 546 metre Par 5, 14th hole at Metropolitan Golf Club on Monday, June 18.
It was all part of world’s fastest hole promotion for the World Cup to be held at Metropolitan Golf Club from November 21 to 25.
Locals Frazer Droop and Jamie Stapleton joined fellow trainee professionals Brad Stephenson from Mornington Golf Club and Yarra Bend Golf Club’s James Betts to tackle the 597-yard equivalent hole.
The team’s time of 37 seconds beat three other teams - the Vic Squad, the Celebrity Team and Metropolitan Club - and beat the previous record of 47 seconds, accomplished last year by Hawthorn Football Club.
Team members have to be smart with their sole shot and predict where their shot will finish so the next hitter, waiting down the fairway, can be in a good position to quickly play the next shot and so on.

Brad’s bunker shot left James with a six-foot-putt which found its target for birdie. Four shots, 37 seconds!
“The world record is 27.875 seconds by a team from the USA, by four American tour rookies at Palm Desert on 4th January 2018,” Jamie told the Yarrawonga Chronicle.
