Yarrawonga 38 defeated by Lavington 54

This was always going to be a tough game to win, top placed Lavington have had great form this year.

The first half saw the Pigeons push them all the way.

The Tyrell sisters combined in goals with Indi F but were not quite as accurate as the Lavi goalers with the Pigeons trailing by 4 at half time.

With Kaitlyn away, Lily Sharp stepped into WD and combined well with tenacious defenders Mal and Annalise.

Caity O also played a great game as she ran tirelessly all day and didn’t give up.

Tilly kept chasing and led beautifull­y, but it wasn’t to be.

The last quarter was the Pigeons worst, only scoring 4 goals to Lavingtons 16.

The girls have taken away a few things to work on, but ultimately know they can step up to the level required in the next few weeks.

Bridget C and Ellie D moved well and shot consistent­ly.

Mid-courters Ebony W, Laura D, Jackie F were strong and fast and got numerous turnovers.

Lavington came back in the third quarter outscoring the Pigeons by a goal, however defenders Lauren M, Laura Z and Jayanna S were consistent and kept the Lavington goalers at bay limiting goal attempts and enabling Yarrawonga to push out their lead in the fourth quarter.

Yarrawonga were hungry though for top spot and didn’t want to share it with Lavington. The girls dug deep and had a great fourth quarter to come out ultimate winners by 4 points.
