The Rotary Club of Yarrawonga Mulwala wish to thank all those in the local community who gave to the Club’s Hay Day Farmers’ Support Appeal.

The kind donations made by the community and matched by the Club, sent a truckload of hay to the farming community of Guyra NSW, where the local Rotary Club arranged its distribution.

A special thank you must also go out to: Bryce Ridell and Multicube Stockfeed for help finding the hay, Gilbert Dickie and Hay Access for donating time for driving and return fuel, Ryan Donovan from Lambtastic for purchase of hay and Adam Inchbold who donated the hay to make up a BDouble truck full.

The Guyra Rotary club were also very grateful, sending a letter of appreciation to the Yarrawonga Mulwala Rotary Club stating all bales had been distributed to very needy farmers/graziers which helped the area largely as well as the hopeful beginning of a great relationship between the Guyra and Yarrawonga Mulwala Rotary Clubs.

Men’s Probus seeking members

On the eve of its 29th anniversary on November 13, Men’s Probus Club of Yarrawonga Mulwala is seeking additional members.

The club extends an invitation to retired or semiretired men to join and become a member of this club for friendship, fellowship and fun.

“Probus provides you with the opportunity to experience friendship through social interaction and participating in a wide range of activities,” president Ian Alcock said.

“You can hear guest speakers on a wide variety of interesting topics. At our last meeting, for example, we were fortunate to hear the director of Yarrawonga Manufactured Housing and former Carlton footballer John Tresize speak. Hearing his talk on the big expansion of his business was most interesting.”

Spouses of meetings are invited to attend meetings when appropriate, and also at activities.

Men’s Probus has 42 members but these days the numbers attending meetings is down to about 30. Back in 2000, the number was 95.

“Sadly, you naturally lose some members as the years go by,” vice-president Peter Proussalis said. “We’d love to see some new members.”

Probus is world-wide in at least 22 countries and has 175,000 members in Australia/South Pacific.

Be part of Men’s Probus and in 2019 you can join in the milestone 30th anniversary of Men’s Probus in Yarrawonga/Mulwala.

The club meets monthly at Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort on the second Wednesday, from 10.00am to 12 noon. After a joining fee of $20, it’s just $5 a meeting for a cuppa and to hear a special guest speaker.

For more information, contact Ian Alcock 0409 217 493 or Peter Proussalis 0414 935 010.

Bruce Neal, Ian Alcock and Peter Proussalis would welcome more Men’s Probus Club members.

The hay donated by the Yarrawonga Mulwala Rotary Club was distributed to over 30 farmers in the Guyra district.
