UNDER 14 BULLS
The Under 14 Bulls travelled to Mansfield for their opening season fixture. Asked to bowl first the Bulls got off to an excellent start with Geoff Montgomery rattling the stumps of the Delatite opener.
Delatite steadied before Tyler Norman took two wickets off consecutive balls.
Delatite wrestled back the momentum with a 30-run partnership before spinner TJ Docking got through the defences of the Delatite batsman.
On the stroke of drinks Tyler Norman again bounced back into action with a brilliant direct hit runout. This was the start of a huge collapse for the opposition.
Montgomery returned to the attack obliterating the batting order finishing with figures of 4/5 off 5 overs.
He was well supported by Marcus van Maanen who took a wicket with his first ball of the day.
Darcy Hicks wrapped up the innings with Delatite making 77.
Chasing the modest target the Bulls got off to a stuttering start losing the top order with few runs on the board.
Showing excellent grit Darcy Hicks and Lachlan Phillips steadied the innings taking the score to 26 before Darcy lost his wicket.
The middle order was asked to work hard by the opposition with some excellent bowling.
Phillips got to 22 with 4 boundaries when he edged one through to the keeper.
Norman and Montgomery consolidated before Norman was bowled for 10 with the score on 59.
There were some nervous moments but Tyler True 10, Cameron Ford 15no and Montgomery 11 saw the Bulls get home.
The Bulls were finally bowled out for 106. An excellent win on the road.
