On Thurs­day Novem­ber 1 our Ladies Con­sis­tency Fours Tour­na­ment was held.

Un­for­tu­nately, it was an ex­tremely hot day for the ladies. It was still an en­joy­able day with ev­ery­one en­joy­ing the lovely lunch put on by our mem­bers. Thanks go to Eve­lyn Calder, our Tour­na­ment Di­rec­tor and all the ladies and men that helped in so many ways. Win­ners on the day;

A Miles Team from YMGCR. 2nd N Ed­wards Team from Be­nalla. 3rd J Warfe’s Team from Co­bram. Best last game Win­ners were – C Do­herty’s Team from Co­bram. Well done to all the win­ners.

Twi­light Bowls started again on Thurs­day Novem­ber 1. The in­ners were – J Borg, R Liv­ing­stone and P Baker. Run­ners Up - S Hutchin­son and C McDon­ald. These games are on each Thurs­day, 6.30pm start for bowls with a sausage siz­zle be­fore­hand at 6pm. Come along and en­joy a so­cia­ble game of bowls.

Coach­ing is on each Fri­day start­ing at 3.15pm to help im­prove your skills. If you are hav­ing any prob­lems, just see Tim and he will help you to sort them out.

Mid­week Pen­nant Re­sults

Oc­to­ber 30, A1 played Corowa Ser­vices and Won with 2 rinks get­ting up.

B1 played YMGCR and had a very good Win with all 3 rinks get­ting up.

Week­end Pen­nant

Novem­ber 3, A1 played Chiltern and lost by 13 shots with only 1 rink get­ting up.

A3 played Corowa Civic and Won with 3 rinks get­ting up.

B2 played St James and Won with 2 rinks get­ting up.

Mid­week Pen­nant is be­ing played to­day Novem­ber 7 due to Mel­bourne Cup day. Re­sults for the past week

Mon­day Oc­to­ber 29, Win­ners – B Batty and A Tom­lin­son. Run­ners Up – W Jenk­ins and D El­lis. Wed­nes­day was the monthly Triples Tour­na­ment. Win­ners – I Brim­ble­combe’s Team. 2nd – R Tait, I Woods and D Car­roll. 3rd – M Slown’s Team. Best 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th games were the teams of R McAuliff, M Ri­ley, G McDon­ald and A Goudge.

Next week’s games are – Mon­day 2-4-2 and Wed­nes­day Jack­pot Triples. These games start at 12.30pm and names need to be down by 11am on the day.

To our mem­bers that are not well, we wish them a speedy re­cov­ery. To all, good health good bowl­ing and good fel­low­ship.

An­other great week for bowls played on won­der­ful greens in great weather. Pen­nant Re­sult

All pen­nant teams were away this week. Tues­day pen­nant was played in good con­di­tions:

A2 were at home to Moira and faced some very de­ter­mined com­pe­ti­tion, how­ever were in front when it mat­tered.

B1 were also at home to Be­nalla, tough com­pe­ti­tion on two rinks but an ex­cep­tional

Per­for­mance by our side on the third rink saw us come away with a strong win. Satur­day

B2 were at home to YMGCR great bowls were played on all rinks with scores at a very in­ter­est­ing stage when the tea break was taken, our rinks seemed to set­tle quicker af­ter the break even­tu­ally fin­ish­ing with a good win.

B5 were also at home to Corowa Civic, once again scores were very in­ter­est­ing at the tea

Break, and be­came more in­ter­est­ing af­ter the break with two of our rinks forg­ing ahead and the third only scor­ing on one end af­ter the break, how­ever the team came away with the win.

Satur­day home games make sure ev­ery­thing is in or­der for the tea break, also to Anita Al­bert, who as­sisted He­len this week, as Jean was busy on the green.

A very big thank you also goes to Ged, our green­keeper who con­tin­ues to pro­vide us with the most won­der­ful greens each and ev­ery week.

Pen­nant se­lec­tion

Our pen­nant se­lec­tors will meet each Tues­day af­ter com­ple­tion of the day’s com­pe­ti­tion to se­lect teams for the next Satur­day and Tues­day matches, team sheets will be on the no­tice board late Tues­day af­ter­noon, please check the teams, if you find you have been se­lected and are un­able to play con­tact John Thurl­ing (57432368) straight away to ad­vise him, so that al­ter­na­tive ar­range­ments can be made.


Prac­tice is on ev­ery Thurs­day from 3.30 all mem­bers need to make an ef­fort to come to train­ing, as our early pen­nant re­sults show there is room for im­prove­ment and con­sis­tency.

The Mel­bourne Cup Car­ni­val is a fran­tic time, with many peo­ple tak­ing ad­van­tage of the break for a few days away, or even just catch­ing up with fam­ily and friends be­fore the Christ­mas rush is upon us. Bowls events this week have been ad­justed to ac­com­mo­date the busy week.

Good bowl­ing and stay healthy. - Mid­week Pen- - Week­end Pen- Week­end Pen­nant – Round 4. Tungamah B1 trav­elled to Wan­garatta where they were suc­cess­ful win­ning all 3 rinks. R Thom­son’s team were 1 up at the af­ter­noon tea break but scored 11 shots to 5 in the last 10 ends to win with 7 shots up 24/17.

S Flana­gan’s team scored a 7 on the 7th end to put them in front but were down 6 at the break.

Af­ter the break Steve’s team more than dou­bled their score to win by 4 shots up 28/24. G Samp­son’s team started out well with the game never in doubt win­ning by 23 shots up 32/9.

Over­all an­other strong win to Tungamah 84/50 a great re­sult, with Tungamah hold­ing on to 2nd po­si­tion on the lad­der. Re­sults Mon­day Oc­to­ber 29

Win­ners with 22 pts were Trica Mur­phy – Fran Smith – Betty Blick.

Run­ners up with 21 pts +5 were Brian Robert­son – Pat Crothers – Chris Liberg.

Third with 21 pts -3 were Val Bryce – Ellen Buck­ley – Lyn Ryan.

All teams on the night had a win and a loss, whence the low scores.

Win­ners with 30 pts were Jeanette Davies – Fran Smith – Betty Blick – Wilf Owen.

Run­ners up with 28 pts were Anne McKain – Judi Cum­mins – Marita Ryan – Faye Cole.

Third with 19 pts were Reg Bryce – Joyce Torpy – Chris­tine Wil­son – Joan Wil­son.

As it was the “Over Eighty’s” af­ter­noon we had quite a good roll up, ev­ery­one en­joyed them­selves, es­pe­cially for the beau­ti­ful af­ter­noon tea, for which we thank the Club.
